Websites were clunky, not user friendly and relied too much on Flash. Today’s sites need to be not only responsive, but backwards compatible and future friendly. They need to be able to work on any device and perform like a race car, anywhere in the world. We will create a solution that not only can re-energize your brand, but make sure ALL your visitors will have a great experience.
There are many stages from ideation to realization.
Information Gathering involves discovering, researching and understanding the clients business. What is the purpose of the clients project – future and far future goals? Who is their audience? Also included in the research is understanding their competitors – what works and what doesn’t – and how we might do it better.
We define who the team is for the project, their roles and project timetables/deliverables. What technology will the project be created in – our we working in a current tech they use, or one we will propose? How will the client interact with the technology and what training will the client need to use it?
Sitemap involves creating a visual document to show the relationships between pages and how a user might navigate the site. We will work with you to create the most complete sitemap for your site. If you have a current site, we may include some if not all of the pages and make sure they are represented in the sitemap.
Wireframes are a B&W representation of the layout without the artwork. 5 – 6 wireframes will be created initially representing the most used pages – home, category, sub-category, about, a contact/form page. If this is an eCommerce site, then a shop, product detail, checkout and account wireframe are also created.
Environment set-up involves multiple environments set-up – a development environment for internal use that the client won’t have access to, a staging environment that the client will be able to access for review – is secured behind a firewall – and a production environment where your final website will be accessible by the web.
Design of pages and artwork will be presented in the staging environment that was set up. The initial pages developed will include – Home, a category and sub-category page, an about us and contact/form page. This will be a functional website with the first four pages fleshed out so we can work with you to make corrections.
Content Creation involves collecting and writing content for the pages. We will work with you to carry over any pre-existing content into the pages, make changes and write relevant copy for your website. We encourage client input into what message they want to get across on their site.
SEO, which is Search Engine Optimization, will be written to help your sites rank higher on search engines. Typically this phase doesn’t involve the clients input, although we will include you in an SEO review and are open to any input you want to make.
Coding involves the development of the websites look and feel. Graphics, content, links and navigation are inserted into the site – supporting the company branding. Frontend functionality, like forms and SEO is included. Development tools are used to assure the site performance. The code is modular to minimize the effort and to support future projects.
Programming handles how the front end of the website talks with the database, crm and support tools you will use to navigate customer accounts, purchases and internal functions.
Testing is performed to assure the site works across browsers and mobile devices. We will look for links, images and any functionality that might be broken. If this is eCommerce, we run test purchases to make sure the shopping cart and checkouts work as well the information is captured for processing and fulfillment.
Launch & Maintenance involves a team of developers who deploy your site live. We perform one final round of quality assurance to make sure everything works – and congratulations, your site is now live. We can also offer maintenance of your site – updates, monitoring and new projects.
